Hillsborough County Visual Artists’ Alliance Inaugural Exhibition Over the past few weeks, several of the art organizations in Hillsborough County have created the Hillsborough County Visual Artists’ Alliance.  Our goal is to share best practices among the organizations, better communicate opportunities and to encourage and promote visual arts to the public. An opportunity has come up for an Artist Exhibition at the Carrollwood Cultural Center.  Members of the organizations that are part of the Hillsborough County Visual Artists’ Alliance — Tampa Realistic Artists, North Tampa Art League, Brandon League of Fine Arts and the Westchase Artists Society — are invited to participate.  There is room for approximately up to 50 paintings, and items within the guidelines will be accepted on a first email, first accepted basis. Times — the exhibition will be hung Friday, Sept 12th and will be up through November 7th. Guidelines — maximum any dimension 40″, must be wired to hang, preferably with some play in the wire (2″-3″) as a hanging system will be used.  Items not wired (e.g., with teeth hangers, etc.) will not be accepted.  Subject matter must be acceptable for children, as the exhibition will be in the auditorium of the CCC. Procedures for interested artists — Please email your interest to Kathy Durdin, kdurdin1@tampabay.rr.com, who will forward the information to Mary Ellen Bitner.  Information needed — artist name, title of work, media, size, price, email address and phone contact information. Receiving — We were planning on hanging works on Friday, Sept 12 from 2:30 to 5:30 PM.  Interested artists could also bring works to TRA for the meeting on the 11th, if we could get some volunteers to take them to the CCC on Friday.  Volunteers to do that and to help with hanging would be great! Exhibition reception plans are still being determined.  Also, we are looking for a volunteer to do tags. We will also get back to you about pick up procedures, and whether there will be a fee for hanging (which should be minimal). The CCC does not charge commissions, but a donation of 10-20% of the sale price if there is a sale is encouraged. For further information, please contact Kathy Durdin or Mary Ellen Bitner (mebitner@verizon.net).
